I then phoned that company's card (different) 800# and they verified that Elan was NOT connected to them, nor was the Fargo address, nor phone number. No mention of account number or company issuing it.

She asked which card I was calling about, I said X card (knowing full well that is a local one and isn't platinum). She asked my name but said I was NOT in their system. She said Elan Financial Services and they did transactions for many bank branches. I called the 800# and asked what Visa company this was. It said I had a Visa Platinum Card (I do not), it was a card member agreement with interest rates/fees as if I or someone had opened an account. I also received a letter from "cardmember services, PO Box 6352, Fargo, ND 58125" No company name. Postal Service ® offers services at locations other than a Post Office.
